Kid’s Earth Day Craft: Egg Carton Tree Tutorial – Step by step

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd, every year. Although EVERY day should be a celebration of our beautiful planet. Not many people know {or celebrate it} but it’s a day to honor the Earth and take notice on what we leave behind. When it comes to our house, we try to recycle and reduce as much as we can – throughout the year. We even have a compost bin in our backyard. It’s our way of helping the planet and leaving a less carbon footprint.

Several of our crafts {mainly kid crafts} have been focused on using recycled materials to make something new. Today’s Egg Carton Tree craft is doing exactly that! We took something we normally would have thrown away and turned it into beautiful art.

  • Empty, Clean Egg Carton
  • Canvas
  • Green/Brown Paint
  • Scissors
  • Paint Brush
  • Hot Glue Gun

  1. Using scissors – trim out each individual section of the egg carton.
  2. Let your child paint the egg carton pieces green. Set them aside to let it dry completely.
  3. Paint the trunk of the tree on the canvas.
  4. Hot glue the green egg carton pieces to the canvas, to make it look like a tree. Discard any extra pieces.
